Zoning is important

Prince Albert City Council is considering easing landscaping requirements in areas designated as heavy industrial areas after concerns that current requirements could hamper growth.

Coun. Dennis Ogrodnick, who brought the idea to the council, said he spoke to an owner who told him meeting current requirements would mean large semis would have difficulty maneuvering their property.

“I can understand that we want beautifully manicured, landscaped properties along 2nd Avenue, 15th Street, and other parts of the city,” he told the city council. “But in North Industrial, in my opinion, and I hope I have your support on it, it doesn’t make sense.”

Areas in Prince Albert that are designated as M1-Heavy Industrial include the North Industrial Park, which is home to SARCAN and Prince Albert SPCA, and the southern edge of the city between Highway 2 and Highway 3.
