Downtown Vancouver New Seasons to include parking lot, landscaping
The newly announced grocery store in downtown Vancouver will have an elegant architectural style, an adjacent park-like area and its own parking lot with around 71 spaces. This is evident from conceptual representations submitted to the City of Vancouver.
The 2,623-square-meter New Seasons Market is slated to open in 2023 and will be built on a long, empty lot at 1506 Main St. north of Mill Plain Boulevard.
Although the project is in the early stages of approval and details are subject to change, another feature of the New Seasons Market is a covered outdoor seating and dining area on the west side of the property along Washington Street.
“A neighborhood-friendly urban experience is designed for outdoor dining and dining and relaxation areas and includes 200 feet of upgraded landscaping along Washington Street,” said the application submitted by developer Cascadia Development Partners.
Tiland-Schmidt Architects from Portland was hired for the project. The company has had a strong presence in Clark County’s retail development. Projects include Grand Central, Salmon Creek Square, Mill Plain One, and the former Rose’s Deli building on Southeast 192nd Avenue and Southeast 34th Street.
The downtown lot has been vacant for years, but its history dates back to the early 1900s when it was a brick factory, plum dryer, and residence. From around 1911 to around 1966, a wood mill occupied the room.
The blueprints show a maximum height of 30 feet and new sidewalks on all four boundaries of the property that are 6 to 12 feet wide.
AKS Engineering and Forestry, based in Vancouver, is the engineering office commissioned for the project.
Cascadia Development Partners did not provide any further details about the project.
New Seasons describes itself on its website as a local company that provides “a friendly, welcoming place that honors the farmers, ranchers, breeders and manufacturers in its region and helps them thrive for generations.”
The other Clark County location is at 2100b SE 164th Ave. in Fisher’s Landing.
