Greenleaf Landscaping gets business boost amid winter weather

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – While the spring and summer months are some of the most popular times for Greenleaf landscaping, business has been busy this winter season thanks to all the snow.

Since the beginning of the winter storms, the company has responded to around 60 plowing jobs in commercial properties in Marietta, Parkersburg, Vienna and Belpre. This includes companies such as hospitals, shopping and care centers, privately owned companies, and government agencies.

Manager Jim Gottfried says the snow removal business kept the staff busy and busy while letting more money through because they couldn’t get out and do landscaping.

“Last year we removed very little snow this time. This year has been a big boom for our company and we have a lot more to do this year, so financially it’s great. I know that people don’t like to deal with snow, but it’s good for our boys to keep them busy during the winter months, ”said Gottfried.

While the company is fully stocked with the trucks and staff it needs to plow, the biggest challenge has been cleaning the parking lots and getting the stores ready to open so people can go to work.

Gottfried said it all depends on when the snow starts to fall in the area. When the snow comes through in the middle of the night, the crews are on their way and ready by 3am. When the snow comes right, when people come to work or all day, things can get more difficult.

“One of the challenges, especially in the morning or when it snows during the day, is that when people try to clear snow they come in and out of parking lots and really don’t understand the process of clearing snow, so they get right behind our trucks or they drive up a parking lot that has not yet been plowed, ”said Gottfried.

Gottfried said if people were to park in an open area, his crews would be able to do their job well with no other obstacles in the way
