- Although this is the largest crowd the area has seen in some time, Weigandt says he has seen worse
Although this is the largest amount of snow this area has seen in some time, Weigandt says he saw worse.
“I remember the ’78 snow storm. ‘I was drugged when I was 10 and shoveling sidewalks so that’s nothing,’ he said.
However, the pandemic has presented its year-round business with some challenges.
“When we started some work fell off as people went down, but it seemed to be picking up again. We do a little more here and there and (a) do a few things differently, ”he said.
Despite these challenges, Weigandt said he was glad to have such a hard working team of people by his side.
“I’ve got great help,” he said. “I’m grateful to you, you get up in the morning, get in, get out and hit the snow.”
And with the help of his staff, he was able to create an easy transition between his landscaping in summer and snow clearing in winter.
“It’s just the idea of preparing the equipment and changing the function of the equipment,” he said. “The skid runners run a lot differently in the summer than they do now and we put the buckets on and they’re like a tank to get through this stuff.”
Although it’s been a bumpy start to the new year, Weigandt said he was optimistic about the future of this business.
“The first part will still be a challenge, but I would probably say that hopefully all of this will get back to normal in September,” he said.
