Westlake landscaping company hires two directors, sees record numbers | Cuyahoga County
For a landscaping company in Westlake, the novel coronavirus pandemic approaching a year has left business booming.
Tony Nasrallah, President and Founder of Ground Works Land Design, said in March the pandemic would slow business.
“It was just the opposite because of the pandemic and the people staying home and not traveling,” said Nasrallah.
This growth was so intense that the company turned off new customers in June or July due to excessive demand, resulting in a record 20 percent increase in sales from 2019 to 2020.
Since then in 2020, sales have already increased by 23 percent.
To accommodate this new growth, Ground Works hired two new directors to its team: Joseph Stark as the new Marketing Director; and Adam Swank as Director of Technology.
Stark was hired in March and Swank in December.
The company also plans to hire up to six more people in the near future and is currently looking for a landscape architect, account manager and sales person for improvement.
Nasrallah said that since the countryside season is only eight months of the year, “there can be a lot of chaos to stay organized.”
By hiring Swank, Nasrallah said optimizing online and technology resources for customers can help reduce calls and improve communications.
The company has an online customer portal through which it can log in, view drafts and invoices, make inquiries and upload images.
Swank has worked in technology for 10 years, working for several startups in “hypergrowth” phases that resulted in buyouts totaling more than $ 275 million, according to a press release.
In his new role at Ground Works, he will play an important role in leading project teams and implementations, working closely with customers and partners to provide better service through improved technology.
With Stark, Nasrallah said he had taken steps to do branding online through social media accounts.
Stark has more than 10 years of experience in marketing, sales, public relations and communication.
He has worked with brands such as Rolex, Breitling, Porsche, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Angels Envy Whiskey and Barrell Bourbon.
The new hires come at a time of physical expansion for Ground Works.
Nasrallah said the company was working on building a 12,000-square-foot facility in Avon. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to begin this year.
Nasrallah originally planned to expand to three acres and said the company would now build on five and a half acres.
The facility will include a design room with indoor and outdoor displays.
